A gorgeous yellow room decorated with plant motifs and overlooking the sunken Patio, the Gardens of Belmont features a king size bed that, if desired, can be converted into two twin beds. With the option of joining with the Rose Parlor, this room can also be perfect for travelers of more than two guests. Like all the other guest rooms in the Inn, the Gardens of Belmont is equipped with a private bathroom and flat screen TV.
The Gardens of Belmont room takes its name from the elegant local 18th century estate named Belmont. Located just across the Rappahannock River from Downtown Fredericksburg, Belmont is the former home and studio of celebrated American painter Gari Melchers (1860-1932). The property is now a museum featuring tours of the historic Georgian-style home, Gari Melchers’ studio, art galleries, and 27 acres of peaceful, pristine gardens and trails. A National Historic Landmark, Gari Melchers Home and Studio at Belmont has the distinction of being one of only thirty of America’s most significant artists’ spaces as designated by the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s Historic Artists’ Home and Studios consortium. The Museum is open daily, except Wednesdays, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Surely one of area’s cultural and historic treasures, the site comes highly recommend during your stay in Fredericksburg.
