Rappenhannock Independent Film Festival
The 2nd annual Rappahannock Independent Film Festival (RIFF), will take place over four days, August 27-30, 2009, in downtown historic Fredericksburg, Virginia. RIFF is the project of the nonprofit Fredericksburg Athenaeum, which is celebrating its sixth year working on behalf of local and regional arts and letters.
The Kenmore Inn is the principle hospitality sponsor of this year's festival and the site of our award's day brunch. RIFF is deeply grateful for this support and partnership.
In its very successful inaugural year, RIFF provided the city a signature cultural event, which resonated throughout the region and the national independent film community. RIFF hopes to build community through the film arts, to make a positive economic impact on behalf of the city of Fredericksburg and to establish an annual event that highlights Fredericksburg as a regional and statewide leader in the arts. RIFF is also committed to being a responsible and environmentally sustainable festival, in an effort to contribute to a positive and healthy community. A "responsibility" campaign has been added to the event's organizational structure.
The Festival will take place at several downtown Fredericksburg locations and businesses. Principle screenings of most film selecions will take place at the Wallace Library on Caroline Street, offering increased accessibility and seating for 150 per screening.
On July 1st, RIFF announced its official selections for this years festival, featuring 31 short and feature length films to be screened over the four day festival.
